Physical & Sensory Impairment
Our approach to caring for and supporting people with a physical or sensory impairment is one of “helping you to do things for yourself” rather than “doing it for you”.
We apply our policy of full personalisation to everybody and work with them to fully assess and understand their situation and needs and develop a flexible plan of care and support with an overall approach to developing and maintaining your independence and quality of life which can include:
- Goals and aspirations – both short term and long term
- Access to local social and leisure activities
- Developing new skills
- Healthy living
- Advice, guidance and signposting to funding, benefits and other organisations
We can also work with local authorities, GPs, Occupational Therapists and other agencies to organise home improvements or equipment installation to further aid mobility and independence.
Our care staff are trained and have experience in working with people with varying degrees of mobility, cognitive or sensory impairment as well as using hoisting equipment, wheelchairs and other mobility aids. We also have some members of staff who are trained in British Sign Language.
