How We Recruit
Due to the nature of home care and the legislation in place within the care industry we have a thorough recruitment, induction and training process.
This is to make sure that both clients and staff know that after receiving an application the following process is followed:
- Interview
- References – we will request 2 references
- Induction – an introduction to the company and how we work
- Criminal Records Bureau Enhanced disclosure
- Mandatory training – Moving & Handling, Medication, Food Hygiene
- Common Induction Standards (completed over first 12 weeks of working) -
- Standard 1 Role of the health and social care worker
- Standard 2 Personal development
- Standard 3 Communicate effectively
- Standard 4 Equality and Inclusion
- Standard 5 Principles for implementing duty of care
- Standard 6 Principles of safeguarding in health and social care
- Standard 7 Person-centred support
- Standard 8 Health and safety in an adult social care setting
Once you are working with us, you may realise that a particular area of care appeals to you or you want to specialise and we encourage further development. We can offer optional and advanced training courses (mostly free of charge to Extra Mile Care employees) in areas such as:
- Mental Health
- Dementia Care
- Learning Disabilities
- Autism
- Managing challenging behaviour
- Positive Behaviour Management
